A personalized watch as a wedding gift. Sometimes you get jobs that you would never have picked out.
Surprise!
Who does not know: You come home unsuspecting and something unusual is on the table.
After an initial inspection, I immediately notice the extremely light weight, the poor workmanship, some bark that comes off and a price tag that displeases me. And I just think, “Who buys something like that?”
Then I am enlightened that the object is a direct task for me. It’s supposed to be a wedding gift. For my girlfriend’s brother. I “should laser something on it” (translated: make something out of it). Saying or name would still have to be clarified….
Tasks of this kind are not really my thing anymore. Especially because the scope of the work is not defined and it is unknown what exactly the goal should be.
A phone call later I agree with the “client” so far to produce a clock from wood with laser writing. Without obligation to use your wood purchase on my table for this. So free hand with approximate budget limit and unfortunately fixed delivery date because wedding date stands.
On the same evening, the order of the movement and two tree slices went out.
